Components of Cover Letters
All cover letters consist of the following cover letter components. Most sample cover letters have three paragraphs. Each paragraph of cover letters contains different message for job interviews.
Paragraph One of cover letters
Explain why you are contacting the employer, including the position for which you are applying.
Paragraph Two (and Three) of cover letters
Express interest in the job and the company itself.
Mention how you learned about the position.
List two or three skills or qualifications that you possess that would be of particular interest to this company. These could be items mentioned in the job listing.
Last Paragraph of cover letters
Explain what you want to have happen.
Ask for a response or mention how you will follow up.
Important Tips

Address a specific person by name and title (if possible).

Target your letter to a specific employer.

Your letter should be typed, well-organized, and grammatically correct. And short!

Have someone proofread your letter (don't rely entirely on the computer spell- checker).

Use the same color paper that you used for your resume.

Keep records or copies of every letter sent in your personal Career Portfolio or Job Search Record, or in your email Sent folder.
