Interview Checklist
After having prepared for the job interview for weeks or
months, you are now at the job interview. There is also an
interview checklist at the interview.
Interview Checklist 3: At the job interview
 |
-
smile as you go
in
-
say good
morning/afternoon
-
use the person 's
name if possible
-
shake hands if the
interviewer offers
-
be polite (remember
you are trying to make a good
impression)
-
do not smoke, unless
invited to do so
|
-
try to answer more than 'yes' or
'no'. Your answers will tell the interviewer about
you as a person.
-
tell the truth
-
be yourself
-
don't pretend to know more than you know. It looks
very bad if they found out.
-
try to ask good questions such as about training,
what work you would be doing, etc
-
don't start by asking how much the pay is but make
sure you ask before you leave
-
thank the interviewer when you leave.
Interview Checklist 4: After the job
interview
-
wait patiently
-
if you have not heard back after a week or so, try
to find out if the job has been filled
-
don't necessarily take it personally if you do not
get the job this time. Employers often have to
choose between several people who could all do the
job.
-
think about the interview and decide whether there
is anything you might do better next time.
-
while you are out of a job, fill you time in useful
ways. This will make you feel more important and
give you something to talk about when you have a
job interview next time.
-
do not give up!
-
start looking for other jobs or training places
straight away
-
look at job bulletin boards and career services
centers
