Job Interview Thank You Letters (continued...)

Can I hand write a small job interview thank you letter or card, or does it have to be typed like a business letter?
  • You can type it like a business letter, or hand-write a card. But if you choose to hand-write it, please follow these instructions:
    1. Use white/cream paper that is blank on both sides. Do not send cute little job interview thank you cards with kittens or stars or smiley faces.

    2. A short note and its envelope will include almost all of the information that a full thank-you letter includes (see the other side of this paper).

    3. It must be easy to read, so be sure your writing is clear and neat. You may print.

How should I send the job interview thank you letters?
  • Mail it in a business envelope, or drop it off.
  • Do not fax a thank-you. They may never receive it and it is very impersonal.
  • If all of your contact with them has been by email, you may want to email the thank you ... but why do it this way? They will be much more impressed if you put some effort into the letter. An email hardly counts as a real thank-you.

Send your thank-you letter 24-48 hours after the interview!
