What Not to Do in an Interview

There are plenty of what not to do in an interview. A wrong move can cost you the job. Knowing what not to do will help you succeed in an interview. Below are some tips of what not to do in an interview.

What Not to Do in an Interview

In an interview:

Don't be negative

It is easy to get drawn into a downward spiral if asked about a bad patch in your life. Playing down the negative and accentuating the positive is the best way to succeed in an interview.

Don't over communicate

It can be tempting to talk too much. Take your cue from the interviewer. If you are not sure that they have heard enough, ask 'would you like me to continue?' otherwise don't expect that the interviewer is interested.

Don't be obsessive

If you have only one passion in life, try not to sound too obsessive about it. Employers like to think that you have ore than one thing that motivates or interests you in life.

Don't expect the interviewer to be expert

Not all interviewers are experienced or particularly well trained in a certain area and they too can be nervous. Don't put them in the corner, they may get hostile and turn you down personally.
