Would you tell me about yourself?

So when you are preparing for the basic question Would you tell me about yourself?, make sure the following criteria are satisfied.

  • can your answer to Would you tell me about yourself? be recited with enthusiasm and confidence in 30 seconds?

Sure, if you have all day, you can come up with good life story about yourself but in an interview, you have seconds to convince the interviewer that he or she should listen further. If you can convince the interviewer that your story is worth more time then he or she will ask you to elaborate it.

  • Are you answering with enthusiasm and confidence? or do you seem bored and monotonic?

  • Does your interview answer include the most impressive achievements of your life?

  • Does your interview answer show qualities suitable for the job?

For example, you are applying for an engineering position, your interview answer should incorporate when you demonstrate problem solving skills, math skills, attention to details, and creativity. Each job requires different skill sets. However, if your life story does not have any of these elements in it, don't try to make it up. You are less likely to be able to talk about made up stories with passion and enthusiasm. After all, people with the right attitudes can be trained. A candidate may get hired because of his or her enthusiasm to learn about the products, whereas another candidate who has worked on similar products successfully for 30 years may not get hired if he or she seems bored about the products.
